We are shaped more that we often realise by our stories. People, places, love, hurt, convictions, wonder, despair and much that is very ordinary. All affect who we are and what we do. God’s promise is always to take what we have been and what we are and grow new depths and strengths of character in us and all creation.
At Rebecca’s leaving service on 16th January, we saw what this means. We gathered to give thanks for God’s faithful promise to Rebecca in her life among us and to pray for her new ministry in Highters Heath. We came as individuals, shaped by our own stories of her ministry. We all, including Rebecca, left renewed as God’s people, trusting in his promise for us and for her in all that is to come.
It was a wonderful evening. We all offered the best we could in prayer, song, communion and food but let God do the rest...
