Children Matter
It's easy to say, harder to make real. We work and pray to make it so in all we do as the church. We start with what Jesus made obvious: children are no less and no more a part of God's people than anyone else, with much to learn and much to teach, much to receive and much to give.
Young people of any age, from newborn to teenagers, must be as much at the heart of our worship and life as those of us who are older. And our older members are so good at caring for them and their parents, getting to know them, praying for them and enjoying their company and friendship.
There are special activities for older children (see below). We also have a lovely under-fives area in church where younger children and their carers can chill out. We know that babies can cry and that energy can be noisy. That is all part of growing up for all of us, and we try to avoid really noisy toys. But no one is ever asked to take a child out of any service, for all are welcome.
Today's children will, with love, form the church of tomorrow; but first they are part of the church as we are now and so must be named, cherished, prayed for, encouraged and protected here as all must be among God's people.
Oasis
Oasis is our children's group. It meets during the Sunday morning 10.30 service at St Nicolas' and Immanuel churches. It is aimed at primary school age children and all activities are related to the Bible or to Christian worship. All adult leaders are volunteers and are DBS checked. Click here to learn more.
